Q1 2026 · Coverage note
A Network, Not an Issuer
Visa is a payment network, not a card-issuing lender. It carries no card receivables and books no credit losses, so the issuer credit metrics Cardintel tracks (net charge-off rate, delinquency, provision) do not apply.
Visa does not lend to cardholders. The credit metrics that anchor Cardintel's issuer briefs do not apply to a network.
Visa earns fees on payment volume — it does not hold card balances or absorb credit losses. The net-charge-off, delinquency, and provision figures that define an issuer brief are structurally absent because Visa takes no consumer credit risk.
Cardintel tracks Visa for the metrics that do matter for a network: payment volume, processed-transaction growth, and cross-border activity (a useful proxy for travel spend). Those network-volume metrics are being built into a dedicated payments-trends view rather than the issuer-credit format.
Until that view ships, Visa's page intentionally shows no credit brief. Reporting issuer-credit metrics for a non-lender would be misleading, and Cardintel's charter is to report only what the data supports.
