Card Data Under Review
Ally's card business (built on the 2021 Fair Square Financial acquisition) is small and recently integrated. The FFIEC bank-subsidiary figures Cardintel currently ingests do not yet reconcile to a reliable card net-charge-off rate, so a full credit brief is deferred pending a data-quality fix.
Ally's card metrics do not yet reconcile reliably. Cardintel is holding the brief rather than publishing figures it cannot stand behind.
Ally entered consumer cards through its 2021 acquisition of Fair Square Financial. The book remains small relative to the megabanks, and the FFIEC bank-subsidiary data Cardintel ingests is producing a card net-charge-off rate that fails internal plausibility checks — a denominator/receivables reconciliation issue rather than a genuine credit signal.
Cardintel's charter is to report only figures it can defend. Rather than publish an implausible loss rate, Ally's credit metrics are suppressed on the live page and flagged for a data-quality fix in an upcoming ingestion sprint.
A full Ally credit brief will follow once the bank-subsidiary card figures reconcile to a defensible net-charge-off rate. The corrections and methodology pages will note the fix when it lands.
